Thibaut Courtois demands more money from Chelsea after World Cup heroics
Chelsea face a huge fight in keeping hold of Thibaut Courtois this summer, but the Belgian is offering them a way out.
Courtois just won the Golden Glove award at the just concluded FIFA World Cup in Russia and he has made himself even more valuable in the transfer market. He has just one year left on his current Blues deal and looks to be on his way out with Real Madrid his preferred destination.
Chelsea have a £200,000 per week offer on the table for the Belgian to sign since December, however, Courtois has refused to sign, with many fans fearing that he wants to run down his current contract at Stamford Bridge.
Sun Sport is reporting that the Belgian is now ready to commit to a new Chelsea contract but he wants more than the current wage offered by the Blues after he starred at the World Cup.
Courtois recently claimed he was inseparable from Eden Hazard, stating that he would go wherever the former Lille man goes next, again a major hint that he may join Real Madrid with Hazard.
Making him the highest paid goalkeeper in the world by some margin seems to be the only option that Chelsea have at the moment.
