Manchester United contact Bayern Munich over the transfer of World Cup winner
Manchester United are desperate to land a new centre-back before the transfer window shuts this week, and they have taken their search to the German Bundesliga.
Reports from Bild claims that the FA Cup finalists have made contact with Bayern Munich over a move for Jerome Boateng.
Boateng is one of several players that Jose Mourinho has told Ed Woodward that he would like to have this season, and the former Chelsea boss would be hoping that the deal is wrapped up soon.
Boateng turns 30 next month, but he is very experienced having won the Champions League, German Cup and 6 consecutive Bundesliga titles.
He had a short and unsuccessful stint with Manchester City in the Premier League earlier in his career, and he has spoken of his desire to return to the English top flight when the opportunity comes.
Bayern are very open to selling him after he told them to listen to offers for his signature, and they value him at £45 million.
