Arsenal star set to delay signing new deal until January
Arsenal have been left frustrated in their efforts to tie Aaron Ramsey down to a new contract.
The Welsh man’s current deal has less than a year left to run out, and the Gunners have been discussing a new deal with him since last summer.
Ramsey has told the club to pay him the same weekly wage as Mesut Ozil, but the Gunners feel the former Cardiff man is not deserving of such a payment.
Ramsey has now decided to delay talks until January when he would be able to speak to other clubs and sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club, but the Gunners want to avoid what happened last summer when Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez held them to ransom.
Arsenal eventually gave Ozil his desired wage as swapped Sanchez for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, they are desperate to avoid such a situation repeating itself.
Ramsey was dropped for Arsenal’s game against West Ham at the weekend, but Unai Emery hailed his quality after that game, and he expects to make him captain in some games this season.
