Arsenal and Tottenham looking to sign out of favour Manchester United star
Manchester United could lose Phil Jones to a Premier League rival for nothing next summer if they don’t offer him a new deal.
Jones has been out of favour at Old Trafford recently as Jose Mourinho looks to prefer a Lindelof and Smalling partnership at the heart of his defence.
The Red Devils have so many players whose current deal expires next summer and Jones is one of them, however, they reportedly have the option of extending his contract for another year and they could take that option.
Reports claim that Arsenal and Tottenham are prepared to offer him a lifeline should the Red Devils decide not to keep him in their team any further.
Extending his contract would give the FA Finalists the chance to consider their options next season. The defence has been a major problem for Jose Mourinho’s men this season and he is expected to spend some money on experienced defenders next summer. Should that happen, the likes of Eric Bailey and Phil Jones would be declared surplus to requirements.
